Decay of Hope | Eteru / Elk

"Man are you sure this will work?"
"Trust me, the only time this will not work if we dint plug in the power supply." It seems to be a joyful moment in one of the laboratory complexes back in Nesotia. A New form of energy that will revolutionize the nation? quite the achievement and ultimately helpful to the rest of the nation. Balder Bjarsson and his cohorts are quite excited to see if this new source of energy will work but the threat of it not working is also in the back of their heads. Some are anxious, some are hopeful and some are just there to see it work.
BA: "Alright, everyone stand back. Redirect all power to the Wavefield Generators. "
The sounds of energy flowing onto the pipes and circuits overpower the eardrums of the spectators as they are forced back to watch from a further distance, Balder remains near with a smile, knowing that he will be a pioneer on creating a new age and generation. As the contraption's parts begin to spin and spin and seemingly get faster and faster, sparks of energy fly off. "Energy Capacity at 120% Researchers, please stand back." The computer system blurted out, the spectators did so yet Balder remained still fighting the gusts of wind that come from the machine. "Balder! get the hell out of there!" one of his assistants shouted. "This energy is safe, no way in hell this can harm anyone!"
As the machine slowly turns brighter and brighter, the walls begin to crumble due to the sheer power output it is creating... A Flash of light would fill the room that can be seen from outside of the complex. The test area they are on would seemingly come to life. Aircons, Doors, Computer Systems, lights.. all brought to life from the new energy source they created... "Test successful." blurted one of the assistants with the rest of the spectators cheering. On where Balder stood, only a soot mark remains.
"Wait.. Where is Balder?"

Deep down the distorted spiral he falls.
Backwards through the veil to be forgotten.
Time seem to have stretch into endlessness but felt it was only a second before he made landfall.

A deep, red fog chokes the sky above.
Ribbons of ghostly light dance slowly within them.
The ground in which he stands.
Is the source of that ghastly smell.
Countless bones for miles around, coated in thick, slimy blood.
It's morbid coating became increasingly runnier slowly overtime, eventually forming tiny streams flowing freely between the bones.
He could almost taste the sensation of overwhelming evil in the very air.
What will he do now?

What will he do now?
Eternal blackness til his eyes open. His body aching in a burning pain, was all of this work he has done in his entire life just for vain? His mouth agape, completely petrified on what he is seeing around him, retracting his hand from the moist bloody ground. As his eyes we're forced to experience an unforgiving hellscape with a vermillion stained sky, his stomach churned and turned with the gagging sensation almost forcing him to puke on the ground.
"Where the hell am i?"
He stands alone in the verge of tears to somehow suffer this infernal fate. What has he done to gain this punishment? he is a humble person after all, why would the gods punish him this severely? As he knelt before the ground he gazed upon the skies. He prayed to the gods for mercy and help, yet he did not curse them for his faith is strong, yet even faith decays. The choking miasma begins to overtake him as he coughs and coughs and forced to use his labcoat as a form of scarf to block out this debilitating smell.
So he begins this treacherous punishment by walking aimlessly, hoping to find anyone or anything.

The bleakness of this landscape makes him bleed any happiness or joy left in him.
The Greys, Whites and the Reds of this world he was cursed upon only make it worse
The laughing lights of the above, ridiculing his very physical existence
His eyes go blank, there is nothing to see here but the scorching pestilence of distraught and the seemingly endless animosity in the air that he could not understand nor partake in
How many days has it been since he has been here? weeks? months? years? The slits on his arm confirm on how long he has lasted here. Feasting on whatever scraps he manages to find, drinking the very toxic miasmatic fluid that flows on the ground. Vomitting blood and whatever liquids he has left.. atleast he isn't thirsty or hungry anymore.
His memories go blank, as the presence of this world destroys his psyche and mind.
His physique slowly detoriating as the cracks of time past by. All of his achievements, fame, respect all mean nothing to this world. Is this hell? he thought. What have i done to suffer this punishment? he pondered.
